Offerings

Offerings collected for the children of Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes by caring churches fulfill the instruction of Jesus and supply the life blood funds needed to provide homes for children who are our neighbors here in Tennessee.

If your church does not already participate in one or more of the offerings below, please contact your church leaders and volunteer to work with them in arranging for an offering for the children to be taken at your church. Thank you for making an eternal difference in a child’s life through your offerings.

A Missions Offering

Many larger churches combine the missions offerings for ministries they support each year into one offering. For churches who would like to include the children of TBCH as one of the ministries provided for through their combined missions offering, free bulletin inserts with general information about Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes and a video featuring the children can be ordered from TBCH. To order these inserts and video, call 1-800-624-8591 or go to our Order Form.

The Mother’s Day Offering

Since 1963, a growing list of approximately 2,000 Tennessee Baptist churches have collected the Mother’s Day Offering for Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes during the month of May. Non-Baptist churches are also welcome to collect an offering during this time.

Gifts to the Mother’s Day Offering allow the giver to honor or remember a special mother or loved one in their life while helping children in need. Offering envelopes, bulletin inserts, posters, and a video are available free from TBCH. To order these materials, call 1-800-624-8591 or go to our Order Form. NOTE: To allow time for processing and delivery, please place orders at least two weeks prior to when the offering is taken.

Vacation Bible School Offering

Let the children of your church experience the blessing of helping other children! Vacation Bible School is a great time for allowing the children of your church to bring an offering for the children of Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes.

A Vacation Bible School Offering will help children learn the importance of both missions and stewardship. Some creative ways to take a VBS offering for TBCH are:

  • Have a contest of boys against the girls to see which group can bring the largest gift.
  • Have a specific event if a certain amount of money is raised by the VBS offering.

For example, one church leader offered to have the children shave his head if the VBS offering goal of $1,000 was met.

  • Take the boys and girls on a field trip to a nearby TBCH location or have the children learn about TBCH during Vacation Bible School. Then take the Offering and invite their parents and other relatives to give also.

    A Birthday Offering

If your church recognizes those having a birthday during worship, include a birthday offering for the children of Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes. Some churches ask those having birthdays to stand during the recognition. Then those who are honored or their families can come to the front of the church to place their birthday offering in the offering plate.

One church has a “pink and blue” contest for the birthday offering; the girls and women put their offering in a hat with a pink ribbon and the men and boys put their offering in a hat with a blue ribbon. At the end of the calendar year, a “winner” is determined. Regardless of how the offering is collected, it is the children of TBCH who are the REAL winners!
